A note from the facilitator
Woo alert:
The world is in the midst of a coherence crisis. Everything feels completely out of control. I don’t have to describe it to you, do I?
But coaches help people to find a sense of coherence in their lives.
And writing is a way to create coherence.
I taught creative writing courses for 5 years. Every semester the student evaluations said the same thing: it is incredibly helpful to be with other people and observe their processes. In my classes, everyone taught and everyone learned. I saw it as my job to facilitate and provide structure.
I’m really honored to have the chance to lead this writing course in collaboration with Coaching Corner. With a crew like ours, there’s gonna be a lot to learn.
Thank you for considering joining us – you might have a few things to learn about writing, but you have so much to teach us, too.
Who is this for?
The course is designed with business and life coaches in mind, but should be accessible to any founder, thought leader, or private practice owner.
Participants should be actively working on a long-form or ongoing creative project – like a blog, newsletter, book, or course.
This course is NOT the right place to work on fiction or (purely) creative/emotional expression or on your everyday social media strategy.
Wondering if the accelerator might be right for you? Schedule a 20-minute vibe check call and let’s figure it out.
Course structure
All members will meet for group workshops on Fridays at 9am PT (noon ET): March 28, April 4, 11, 18, (off April 25), May 2, 9. Each session is 75 minutes of active work (with a brief break), including discussion and facilitated activities.
We will work our way through a four-part framework I call the (Unscientific But) True Theory of Creative Block, applying its infallible wisdom to your work in progress. You will occasionally share early drafts with your peers; I will be facilitating these workshops in order to ensure that everyone is contributing to a supportive, engaged culture.
All participants may schedule 1 individual session at any point during the course. Participants with a “front-row seat” may schedule up to 6 individual sessions (limit 1/week).
What you’ll get
In short, if you arrive with specific challenges, questions, or goals — and are prepared for me to direct your focus somewhere specific — you can expect to walk away with two different but important types of takeaways:
First, you’ll make meaningful, tangible progress towards with specific writing project. For example:
Generate a long list of topics for your newsletter that you’ll be authentically excited to write about — and readers will genuinely love to read.
Strengthen the concept of your book by updating the format, clarifying the scope, or identifying a clearer through-line.
Introduce an engaging new aspect or feature to your newsletter or blog – like an interview series or email course.
Draft a ton of raw material… and a plan for what to do with it.
Second, and more importantly, a clearer and more confident sense of how to approach writing in the future. For example:
Develop habits that take the stress out of future idea generation.
Identify frameworks, structures, and formats that you can “steal like an artist”.
Practice collecting meaningful feedback in a way that feels approachable for you and readers.
Build a writing routine that helps you tap into your authentic voice without feeling like you’re doing homework.
Just you and your brilliant brain
We will resist relying on LLMs to generate content, however I will recommend using a transcript-generating AI (Otter) to capture and organize thinking.
With a budget of $1277…
you can hire a copywriter to write you a few dozen articles, using SEO tricks that’ll work great until Google inevitably updates its ranking methods.
you can hire a brand consultant to conduct an audit and provide a very thorough and triggering diagnosis that you won’t be able to manage.
you can pay for a writing class that is full of irresistibly interesting people who are working on fiction and memoir and poetry and a screenplay...
…or you can join your peers in the accelerator and learn new ways of accessing the creative energy you’ve always had. That value will endure — no matter what the world throws at us.
