Writing coach in Portland
6 weeks of coaching
to help you get your idea out of your head and onto the page.
Creative block looks like a lot of things:
Too many ideas competing for your attention.
A vague impulse to share something… but what?
Countless false starts without an ending in sight.
Brilliant concepts that, for some reason, sound like everyone else.
As a writing coach, ghostwriter, content curator, screenwriting professor, and copywriter, I’ve seen it all. And I’ve learned that creative block is both an obstacle… and a clue. As long as you are willing to show up to your work every week—there’s a way towards writing the darn thing and getting your writing in front of your audience.

I want to spend 6 weeks helping get you out of your rut. Yes, 6 weeks, because that’s as long as we need to make big progress, but short enough that I don’t become your writing babysitter (because, babe, I don’t want to!) You can always engage in another cycle (after you’ve explored on your own for at least 3 months.)
My scheduling book is open for Q1 2025. I’m looking for five motivated professionals working in climate, mental health, and/or coaching to work with me on their newsletter, blog, or book (of any length).
Creative block-buster cycle
6-week sequence— $750
We’ll get together for weekly working sessions where we’ll work through your biggest obstacles and uncover ways of using your greatest strengths. Assignments, feedback, check-in calls… baby, it’ll feel like I only have eyes for you. Ideal for folks working on newsletters, blogs, books, and other longterm or ongoing writing projects.
In clients' words:
-
MJ was an attentive listener who engaged in a dynamic conversation, understanding and shaping a shared understanding to bring out a new and dynamic vision. MJ asks critical questions that inspire thought and deep reflection. MJ also used creative methods to evoke new thoughts about my ideas and concepts.
- RW
-
MJ has been able to quickly get the essence of my fuzzy thoughts and turn them into a powerful speech that will be the starting point of my new business.
- GLV

I'd recommend that someone who has been crafting a message for themselves connect with MJ to understand more about how they're presenting and how to bring together that magic. MJ would be a great fit for a creative thinker who has a mature idea and is ready to flourish that well thought out idea.
